Are you a highly skilled AWS Cloud Architect with a passion for cost-efficient, scalable, and resilient system design? We’re supporting a leading international technology company in their search for an experienced Cloud Architect (f/m/d) to play a key role in modernizing their core Checkout systems and driving the evolution of their global cloud platform. Operating a 24/7 SaaS business with millions of transactions annually across 240+ markets, this company’s success depends on the performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness of its cloud infrastructure. You’ll start within the Checkout domain—one of the most business-critical environments—and later expand your impact across all cloud systems.
YOUR ROLE:
- Design and evolve large-scale, cost-efficient architectures on AWS, ensuring scalability, resilience, and performance.
- Identify optimization levers and implement strategies to minimize cloud spend while maintaining business continuity and compliance.
- Modernize legacy systems by introducing cloud-native best practices (e.g., serverless, event-driven architecture, Kubernetes) where they add measurable value.
- Partner closely with engineering and product teams to guide implementation, ensuring alignment between architecture, cost control, and business outcomes.
- Collaborate with internal cloud platform teams to leverage shared infrastructure capabilities effectively.
- Ensure system reliability and compliance with GDPR, PCI-DSS, and other regulatory frameworks.
- Establish and advocate FinOps-aligned design principles and best practices for cloud cost governance.
YOUR PROFILE:
- 7+ years of experience in AWS architecture, design, and cost optimization for large-scale or high-traffic platforms.
- Strong background in AWS services (EC2, ECS/EKS, Lambda, S3, CloudFront, RDS, DynamoDB, etc.) and cloud automation.
- Proven ability to analyze and optimize cloud cost structures while maintaining high availability and performance.
- Experience with modernization of legacy systems and hybrid architecture environments.
- Solid programming understanding (e.g., C#, Node.js) to collaborate effectively with software teams.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes, CI/CD, observability, and Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
- Awareness of compliance and security frameworks relevant to global cloud operations.
- Excellent analytical and communication skills in English; German is a plus.
WHAT’S IN FOR YOU?
- A pivotal architectural role in a global technology transformation.
- The opportunity to shape cost-efficient and future-ready cloud environments.
- Work closely with top engineering leaders across Europe and the US.
